Zoo Development

Leisure Business Advisors LLC (LBA) specializes in providing the feasibility study, which is the first step in the development process. An independent expert usually prepares this study and it is generally required by  financing institutions or investors.

The study evaluates potential usage by applying market penetration rates to the market segments. These rates are influenced by the quality of the market segments, competition, and the experience of comparable facilities elsewhere. The study also projects potential financial performance.

John Gerner, our managing director, has conducted planning studies for many zoos. As a subcontractor to International Theme Park Services, he evaluated pricing alternatives for the Bronx Zoo and evaluated food and merchandise operations at the Cincinnati Zoo. He prepared valuations for two commercial aquariums and conducted feasibility studies for proposed aquariums in Southern California and Kentucky. When he was with Economics Research Associates, he evaluated the potential of a major new indoor zoo in downtown Manhattan for the Wildlife Conservation Society. he also evaluated expansion alternatives for the National Aquarium in Baltimore and the New York Aquarium.

We pride ourselves on prompt service and typically respond within a day. We are also sensitive to time constraints. If needed, assignments can be accelerated for an extra fee.
